PURPLE HEART tells of a clean-up effort after a covert mission gone wrong. It is the story of Colonel Allen, the leader of a new, elite military unit designed for covert operations. His first mission: assassinate Saddam Hussein prior to the beginning of the 2003 Iraq War. Sgt. Oscar Padilla is the sniper chosen for the mission targeting Hussein. Unfortunately the mission is compromised; Padilla is captured and tortured by the Iraqis. Later, Padilla is rescued, but is severely damaged by his ordeal. Back in the States, he escapes from the lock down ward of the military hospital where he is being treated. Given what he knows about our illegal attempt at political assassination, he is considered dangerous. As the leader of the unit that trained Padilla and executed the mission, Colonel Allen is sent with specific orders to go find Padilla and "solve the problem" permanently. Allen intends to convince Padilla to come back. The film raises questions about the moral obligations of the use of military power, the methods that we use to train our own soldiers, and the choices we wish to make as a society about political assassination.

A romantic comedy set in the most romantic spot ....
The Yardsale
This urban comedy is a one-day window into the commotion surrounding the engagement of Hector Cruz, a down on his luck twenty eight year old trapped in the conventionalism of the ghetto life. The troubles begin when Hector's best friend, Peanut, a three hundred pound virgin accidentally damages the engagement ring, spiraling Hector into a desperate situation. Money is needed so Hector and friends set up a yardsale on a Tuesday afternoon. Frustration erupts when the ugly face of an ultimatum surfaces from Iris, Hector's self centered, golddigging bride to be. She demands that he propose to her by the end of the day or else the relationship is over. More romantic stress inconveniently follows when Carmen, a childhood friend of Hector's, arrives, unlocking their untapped feelings for one another. Mayhem continues as Iris' ex-boyfriend, Chuy, a hobbit sized, dimwitted thug plots to destroy Hector's engagement, which only adds to the misfortunes already occurring at the yardsale. Hector's unlucky streak drags on, escalating into a hilarious, heart warming roller coaster ride that bonds a friendship and helps a young man find the meaning of life through true love. By The Time They're Rescued...There May Be Nothing Left

Runaways is Steve Moore's (Austin O'Brien) story. He's sixteen and lives with his younger sister, mother Cheryl and her boyfriend John, in a modest house in Bakersfield, California. An abusive and often intoxicated man, John rules the household, and though his attacks on Steve result in emergency hospital visits, Cheryl's loyalty is to her boyfriend. To protect her relationship with John, she "ditches" her son, having him arrested and locked in a correctional "mental" facility, before coercing her older brother Burt, who lives in Hollywood, to take him. Steve quickly discovers that Burt cannot even provide temporary lodging, but an administrator at his new high school directs him to a shelter for runaway kids where he soon learns to navigate his way. At the shelter which offers only a two to three month respite from the streets, counselor Tony Perez (Jack Forcinito) tries to provide guidance to Steve and his roommates Mike (Demetrius Navarro) and Andy (Esteban Powell). While encouraging them to try to reconcile with their parents, he insists that they take charge of their own lives and believe that a better life is possible. Angry and confused teen runaways come and go at the shelter, as Steve learns he is not alone in his predicament and that the streets offer a harsh reality. Postponing his desire to play basketball on the school team, Steve finds an after-school job to support himself and pursues a relationship with the affluent but unhappy Sally (Arielle Paul). Andy spirals down into crack addiction and becomes a homeless prostitute and Mike gains stability in his life once he moves in with his loving and supportive aunt. Mike's aunt soon opens her home to Steve as well, and the two celebrate their good fortune at having the opportunity to get their lives on track. Written by Alexandre Chorques {chorques@hotmail.com}
